Uniformity and Consistency with HIPAA and Other Standards

Designed specifically for HIPAA compliance, ABC codes support the goals of the following Standard-Setting Organizations (SSO):

American National Standards Institute/Accredited Standards Committee (ANSI X12N)
Health Level 7 (HL7)
American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA)
Data Interchange Standard Association (DISA)
Computer-based Patient Record Institute (CPRI)
National Library of Medicine (NLM), Unified Medical Language System (UMLS)

ABC codes were voted into ANSI ASC X12N version 004022 and are included in the draft implementation guides for ANSI ASC X12N version 004050.

ABC codes are a registered vocabulary of HL7. The codes were added to the NLM's UMLS in 1998.

ABC Coding Solutions has been involved with these SSOs and other health industry information technology organizations since the company's inception.
